2021 DUATHLON ORIGIN ATHLETE – SOCHEATA UNG

1. How did you train and get prepare for Duathlon ORIGIN at this current situation (having social distancing measures in place)?
I usually cycle in a group of eight with my friends every weekend. Sometimes as soon as I get home I put on my running shoes and head for the Botanic Gardens for a quick run. Also in the early mornings I may go for a run or bike ride with my partner, who also takes part in MetaSprint events.

2. Due to the rolling start, the Duathlon format is very much like a time trial format.Does this change your race strategy? How or why not?
It does not change my race strategy. Not starting in a large group makes me feel less competitive and so I must focus on my own performance.  Having a trusted and experienced organizer like MetaSprint  allows me to concentrate on the race rather than worrying about anything else.  

What is your target?
My target is to try to finish within one hour, and of course to beat my partner who will be doing the same event with me. 


3. What are you looking forward to for this upcoming Duathlon ORIGIN event?

To beat my old previous personal best timing and to enjoy the buzz of live competition- albeit with some Covid related restrictions.
