The First Showdown of 2026: Aquathlon Elites Ready to Go

On Your Marks…

We are 6 weeks out to the first race of the MetaSprint Series 2026, the Aquathlon on Sunday 1 February at Palawan Beach, Sentosa. It is the first test of the new year and an indication who started their new year’s resolutions timely and who indulged in a few too many minced pies and pandan log cakes.

Elite Waves Multiplied

This year it is the first time there are elite waves for both the Sprint and the new XL distance Aquathlon, and therefore even more opportunities to shine. We take a look ahead at who has made their intentions clear and reach for early success in 2026.

XL Aquathlon Women

The Top-2 in the 2025 MetaSprint Series Champion, Vicky Hill and Aimee Pink are both going long in the XL distance and so is 2025 Sprint Aquathlon runner up, Itsuko Tanaka. A not completely surprising move from these endurance veterans.

Sprint Aquathlon Women

Socheata Ung, 3rd in the 2025 Series Championship, is sticking to the Sprint though. Her 2025 success was achieved in the Duathlon and Triathlon, as swimming is a less fast discipline for this uber-biker-runner. So maybe this is a good opportunity for youngster Mavis Seah to take advantage of her speed in the water and zippy legs and race to victory.

XL Aquathlon Men

Haythem El-Ansary, a stalwart at the MetaSprint Series, is trying his hand at the XL, and so are Aquathlon star, Yang Hsin Shih. In 2025, they were separated by a mere 30 seconds. That is all to play for at almost double the distance.

Sprint Aquathlon Men

Wai Kit Lam sticks to the Sprint distance for 2025. Although he celebrated his greatest successes at the Duathlon, Lam holds his own in an Aquathlon as well. His nearest competitor is Guillaume Lannes.

Wild Cards

You can race in the elite wave too. If you have not qualified automatically*, send us a request for a wild card with a top-10 overall result from a recent race, and start from pole position at the Aquathlon.

All enquiries should be submitted via the Contact us page.

*Athletes that finished top-20 in their gender at the Aquathlon, Triathlon or Series overall in 2025, qualify automatically for the Elite wave.
