Prowesses of MetaSprint Series 2024 Duathlon

The MetaSprint Series 2024 Duathlon held at F1 Village on 17 March 2024 was a great display of athletic prowess and community spirit. We welcomed over 1,100 participants, including an impressive 30% of first-timers, marking our largest percentage yet in the history of the event. It was heartwarming to see participants from various walks of life and different physical abilities, ages and religions embrace the sport that we love.

Here are the highlights from an unforgettable day:

In the heart of the action, Matthew Brittain, a Gold medal Olympian renowned for his achievements at the 2012 Summer Olympics, dominated the course with his stellar performance. His remarkable bike split of 30:26 for the 20km long course set the stage for his victory, showcasing true excellence in multisport competition.

The event witnessed the participation of Team Singapore athletes, adding a competitive edge and national pride to the race. Their determination and skill were inspiring to all participants.

In a display of inclusivity, we were privileged to welcome para-cyclist Prashant to the Duathlon, showcasing the vibrant diversity and resilience inherent in our sporting community.

Maks Pecnik Bambic, a seasoned marathon runner, embarked on his first duathlon adventure, showcasing the spirit of pushing boundaries and embracing new challenges. Despite it being his debut, he clinched an impressive 3rd place in his age group, demonstrating his remarkable athletic versatility.

Despite Ramadan, a dedicated group of duathletes from Team Spright joined us in the ‘Fast’ wave at 5am, exemplifying dedication, commitment, and the spirit of camaraderie in the face of challenges.

It was heartwarming to witness the youngest athletes, Ita Winston and Emil Zachary Ruff, both 4 years old, fearlessly taking on the challenge in the Fun Kids category. Their enthusiasm and determination were truly infectious.

The MetaSprint Series 2024 Duathlon truly embodied the spirit of inclusivity, welcoming participants of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels. It was a celebration of unity, diversity, and the joy of multisport competition.

The Series Ranking, combining the Aquathlon and Duathlon results, has been released for all race categories. This sets up some exciting battles between friends and peers at the Triathlon on 5 May: who will end up with the highest point tally? Place your bets.
