EVENT PREP – DUATHLON DIGITAL

It’s time to get excited about your upcoming Duathlon DIGITAL event. We have put together some checklists to ensure you have all the information you need for a successful event. Read carefully the event prep below.

Checklists

Pre-event (week prior to event):

  • You must have booked a time slot in order to be able to start your event. You can change it later if you wish to participate at a different time.
  • Check the venue map for the start and finish location.
  • Plan your travel to the venue to be on time for your booked time slot.
  • Review the detailed course map to familiarize yourself with the route.
  • From 17 February, you will be able to download the event app and learn how to use it. The information on how to do this will be emailed to you on 17 February. *If you completed the Aquathlon DIGITAL please delete your app and download again to ensure you have the latest version.
  • Download “Trace Together” app (unless you have the token) for the compulsory safe entry scan at the transition area.
  • If you are a first-timer and want some tips for your first event, check out the first-timers’ guide.
  • Monitor your health status from 14 days prior to event day.
  • We recommend you bring a lock to secure your bike.

Pre-event (day of the event):

  • Double check your day and time slot booking on your confirmation email sent on 19 February to ensure you arrive at the right time to the start venue. If, for any reason, you can’t make it on time to the start for the time slot that you booked, you may book a new time slot.
  • Charge your phone battery fully.
  • Ensure you bring headphones.
  • Ensure your phone settings are set for the best experience (see other suggestions for your event).
  • Bring two water bottles with you, as there are no drink stations.
  • Wear a face mask while you travel to the venue and as you prepare to start your challenge. Only remove when you are starting your challenge.
  • Please do not bring any spectators with you.

The event app replaces marshals, signage, timing chips and your cheer squad. It guides you around the course, gives you time splits, encouragement and your results. Thanks to the app you are self-sufficient and can complete the course at any time of the day. All you need is a fully charged phone.

Event start and during event – Duathlon DIGITAL:

  • Launch the app, it will take you to the set start line in Punggol point.
  • Identify yourself to the event crew to take your temperature, and do a Trace Together scan.
  • Public bike racks are available at the start point. After the bike phase you may rack your bike in one of these racks. Bring a bike lock to secure your bike.
  • You can leave your gear bag with our volunteers.
  • After doing your final preparations approach the starting point, and press the ‘start countdown’ button on the event app.
  • You will hear a welcome message, and then audio guidance to the start of the bike leg that is situated 2 km from the transition area. Spin gently to the start of the bike leg – this part on the PCN is not timed, so do not race it.
  • The app audio messages count down the distance towards the race start, so you can get up to speed for a ‘flying start’ across the starting line. You don’t need to do anything on your phone. Keep your hands on the handle bar!
  • The app guides you around the designated course with a turn-by-turn voice navigation. Don’t look for course signs or marshals.
  • You must complete two laps of the Seletar bike course as per the audio prompts.
  • Once you have crossed the finish line of the bike leg, spin gently on the PCN back to the transition area. This part is not timed, do not race on the PCN.
  • There won’t be any audio message on this part to guide you back to the bike racks, take note of the route on your way out to the bike course.
  • Upon return at the venue, you have 15 minutes to rack and lock your bike, change into your running gear and get ready to run. Time penalties are applied to late starters.
  • Find the run start with the help of the app. A start button appears when you have reached the start line.
  • Press start on your app when you are ready to start your run. Listen to the audio guidance to navigate your way around the course.
  • The app will automatically stop when you cross the run finish. You will hear a congratulatory message and the app will show that you have successfully finished.
  • Always abide by the safety measures, including keeping a distance of 2 metres from other participants or pedestrians during the event.
  • You will be cycling and running on open roads. Please be considerate to fellow road users and comply with traffic rules. The time spent waiting at traffic lights will be deducted from your finish time, so stop for red lights and stay safe.
