Covid-19 update

MetaSprint Series Triathlon update – 21 March 2020

Dear athletes,

It is with disappointment that we are informing you that the MetaSprint Series Triathlon, initially scheduled to take place on 19 April 2020, will be postponed due to the latest stricter safe distancing measures announced by the government.

We know that a swim, a ride or a run can make your day a better day at the moment. That’s why our team was working hard to deliver a memorable and safe event for you. In light of the situation, we will now direct our focus towards rescheduling the event to a later part of the year. With the situation evolving every day we will not be in a position to announce any date till we have more visibility. During this period, we kindly ask for your patience.

Your registration will be transferred automatically to the new date. Should you not be able to make the new date, we will offer you a credit to be used for another MetaSport event in 2020 or to next year’s MetaSprint Series.

Thank you for your understanding, stay safe and healthy, and keep training.

MetaSprint Series Triathlon update – 19 March 2020

Dear athletes,

We would like to thank you for your patience as we review the situation regarding the upcoming MetaSprint Series Triathlon on 19 April, and discuss our options with the relevant authorities. We appreciate that many of you are waiting for a confirmation that the event will still proceed. Please trust that we are working relentlessly towards giving you an update as soon as possible.

We are also aware of the ongoing travel restrictions that are affecting those of you who are residents in countries other than Singapore and we are keeping this in mind. We kindly ask for your patience whilst we come up with a suitable alternative for you should the travel restrictions still be in place when the event happens.

Meanwhile, to enable as many of you as possible to enjoy the normal price (a price increase was initially scheduled for today), we have decided to keep it open until after we are able to confirm the event’s continuation.

Keep training and stay safe.

Covid-19 update

Considering the Covid-19 situation as of now, the MetaSprint Series Duathlon and Triathlon events are scheduled to proceed as planned.

The health and well-being of our participants, spectators and volunteers, and ensuring the safe delivery of the events are our upmost priorities. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will keep monitoring it very closely and follow the guidelines of the World Health Organisation and Singapore’s Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, we have worked with the relevant Singapore authorities to develop the following extra precautionary steps to ensure the safety of all our participants at the Duathlon on 8 March 2020.

We would appreciate your best cooperation to support and abide by the measures listed below:

  1. We will do a temperature check of all our participants and accompanying family members or spectators prior to anyone entering the race venue. Anyone with a temperature of 38 degrees or higher will not be able to enter the venue and join the event.
  2. We will require that all participants, and accompanying family members or spectators fill in a travel and health declaration form before entering the venue
  3. We will have hand sanitisers available in the areas of higher traffic density (entry point, exit point, live result booth, info booth)
  4. We will hand your finisher’s medal to you (and not put it around your neck as we normally do).
  5. We will ask you to remove and hand over your timing chip to our volunteers before you leave the finish area, instead of collecting it from you. This only applies to Duathlon participants who have a blue timing chip strap.
  6. Live results ticket issuance will be managed by volunteers to limit physical contact with the equipment.
  7. The above points number 1 and 2 will also apply to all staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors.

Previous measures that were communicated to you remain in place (below).

8. We require that you do not join the event if:

a. you, any or your family members, or anyone living in your household, have visited China and came back to Singapore on or after the 22nd of February

b. you have been experiencing any symptoms of a respiratory illness – fever, cough or shortness of breath.

9. We require that you check your temperature, and the temperature of your family members who are racing or accompanying you before you leave home on race morning. Do not come to the event if you have a fever.

We will update you via, email, website announcement and a Facebook post, should there be any new developments.

Many thanks for your trust in us from all of you who have expressed your satisfaction in seeing the events happen. We look forward to two enjoyable mornings of sport.

In the meantime, keep training, and stay outdoors!

On this note, keep in mind that according to health scientists, viruses such as the Covid-19 don’t persist very well under hot and humid conditions and that “in an open space, you won’t catch the virus from a passing person”.
